Crime in Cali

Guest posted by Michael Jones Davis

I don't profess to know the crime statistics for rape, murder, assault, and other crimes, but I do know that I've seen a marked increase in shoplifting over the last few years. I know because its my job to catch them. Not only is shoplifting on the rise but i lost two co-workers to layoffs. So, now my work is more dangerous than ever because, for one, I don't have the back-up, and two, there seems to be a greater number of thieves.

Our store statistics do not point to an increase of any one group, but by a significant degree teenagers and young adults take up most of my time. I suppose the poor kids just want to look cool so they go after the clothes and shoes, while the rich kids go after the higher dollar items.

I cant help but sometimes vent to my wife about work and what's happening to our town and nation. I decided to also rely on modern technology to help secure my family in our home.

About 4 months ago, after some people down the street got broken into, I bought a security system from one of those California home security companies and then installed it with the help of my brother-in-law. The system seems to work fine, but it doesn't cover the entire house. We plan to expand the number of zones to cover everything.
